Three Levels of Financial Statement Services

Compilations. The first level of service. Financial statements are assembled from management-provided information with no verification of accuracy.

Reviews. More involved than a compilation. Key personnel are interviewed about policies, procedures, and operations. A review report provides "limited assurance."

Audits. The highest level of service. Verification and substantiation procedures are performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
